WHMIS 2015 - GHS

Program Description
Effective December 1st, 2018 all suppliers, distributors and Employers in Canada transitioned from the old Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) to the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals – WHMIS 2015 (WHMIS 2015 - GHS). Workers who work with, or may be exposed to a hazardous product must be informed and educated about the potentially hazardous product.
Training Course
Training is required annually, or as new products are introduced to the workplace. Training includes, but is not limited to:
- WHMIS Overview;
- Legislation;
- Rights and Responsibilities;
- Hazard Control Program;
- Hazard Classification;
- Hazard Classes and Categories;
- Pictograms;
- Labels;
- Safety Data Sheets (SDS); and
- Education and Training.
Knowledge Evaluation
A knowledge evaluation will follow the training program to ensure an understanding of the material presented. This program can be combined with the Transportation of Dangerous Goods Training and Regulation 347 – General Waste Management training programs.
