Fall Arrest Training
Duration of Program:
Theory - 4 Hours
Practical – 15 minutes per Participant
Program Description
Fall Arrest training is required if a worker is to perform work with a fall hazard of 3 metres (10 feet) or more at an Industrial workplace. This program provides participants with an understanding of where fall hazards may exist, the required Fall Arrest & Protection Equipment, how to inspect and don and doff the required Fall Arrest Protection Equipment. Participants will also be introduced to the importance of developing a Fall Rescue Plan, and implement the critical controls required in the event of a fall.
Note: This course is required if participants are taking the Mobile Elevated Work Platform (MEWP) training program.
Fall Arrest Theory Training
Training must be refreshed every 3 years, or as new equipment is introduced. Once completed, participants are required to pass a knowledge evaluation to demonstrate an understanding of the material. The theory portion of the Fall Arrest program includes, but is not limited to:
- Legislation;
- Duties and Responsibilities;
- Hazard Elimination and Fall Protection;
- Fall Arrest Systems;
- Inspecting Fall Arrest Equipment;
- Donning & Doffing Fall Protection Equipment
- Emergency Rescue and Fall Protection Plan; and
- Ladder Safety.
Fall Arrest Practical Training
Practical training includes donning and doffing of the participants fall arrest protection. Participants will be required to “don”, or correctly put on their safety harness; the trainer will evaluate how the safety harness is put on, and ensure participants understand why it is important to correctly don a safety harness. Then, the participant will doff, or remove, the safety harness; the trainer will ensure that the participant understands why removing the safety harness correctly is important.
